Wherever you’re at in your IG journey, these top tips for making a show-stopping feed will help you curate your digital storefront and gain more followers and attention to your page.
How to visually curate your feed:
Download Later, Planoly, or a similar app that helps you visually plan your social media. You’ll need these tools to play around with the content you’ve collected and try out different ways you can arrange it.

Arrange first based on aesthetics -- believe me, it’s easier to make captions fit an image than trying to find the perfect image for a caption. When you see a photo you can think of many things to write about, but looking at a piece of copy and trying to find the perfect image in a sea of millions of images, not so easy. After all, Instagram is still a visual platform - so start there!
Mix in images that use close-ups with images that are busier. One of the best ways to get a clean-looking feed is to have this element in balance. Many people overlook the busyness of an image and their feed ends up looking messy, although all their photos are beautiful so they cannot figure out why. The key is to alternate between the two, or just stick to close-up shots with a single focus. Don’t forget to throw in some graphics or text-based images, and make sure to have a healthy balance of still and moving posts, as well.
Balance - Instagram is all about compromise. Most purely branded images won’t get much engagement, but we all lust after those clean + perfectly branded feeds. Determine when you’re willing to compromise a little aesthetic uniformity with engagement, and vice versa. There will be periods where you’ll hit a visual stride with your feed and perhaps others where it doesn’t quite look as WOW, but you have to get certain pieces of information out there to your audience. It’s all about balance!
Rearrange, and rearrange and rearrange. Sometimes good-looking feeds come from spontaneity, and sometimes they don’t. When I upload a significant amount of content and am planning months out, it can take me hours of moving images until I find the right arrangement that sits with me the best.
Schedule out your content for the dates/times that you want, and you’re off to the races!
Social media is constantly evolving and what works well for one account may not work for another, so be sure to learn what your followers respond positively to, and try to stay consistent. Engagement and follower numbers will grow over time with consistent posting schedules, especially when the content is really resonating with people.
